Senhouse Roman MuseumQuality Assessed
"Started some 450 years ago, this is an incredible collection of local Roman artefacts"
Overview
Set on cliffs overlooking Solway Firth, Senhouse Roman Museum is next to a 1st century AD Roman fort. The collection is an historic achievement in itself, started by the Senhouse family in the 16th century. New finds are often on display, and the collection will be sheer heaven for those fascinated by Roman Britain. Free parking, tea and coffee.
About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills.
