Overview
An award-winning attraction with wide-ranging displays and many hands-on exhibits that cover the archaeology and geology of Sunderland, the coal mines and shipyards of the area and the spectacular glass and pottery made on Wearside. Other galleries show the changes in the lifestyles of Sunderland women over the past century, works by LS Lowry and wildlife from all corners of the world. The Winter Gardens are a horticultural wonderland where the exotic plants from around the globe can be seen growing to their full natural height in a spectacular glass and steel rotunda.
