"Quintessential country farmhouse with original features."
Overview
Dating from the 13th century, Tudor Farmhouse Hotel is a 20-room boutique retreat in the village of Clearwell, on the edge of the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. Original features throughout, exposed stonework, ancient oak beams, wall panelling and inglenook fireplaces, sit alongside rooms of real character and comfort, many with roll-top baths and monsoon showers. Bedrooms are located in the main farmhouse and in converted barn and cider house buildings in the grounds. The award-winning restaurant is a considerable draw in its own right, with a menu built around hyper-local and foraged seasonal produce. Guests can also book treatments including massages and facials in the hotel's Shepherd's hut, as well as a range of distinctive experiences such as wildlife safaris with naturalist Ed Drewitt, stargazing evenings with astronomer Jim Bell, and wild food foraging. The property sits within 14 acres of ancient wildflower meadow, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

About the area
Gloucestershire is home to a variety of landscapes, including the Cotswolds, a region of gentle hills, valleys and gem-like villages that roll through the county. To their west is the Severn Plain, watered by Britain’s longest river and characterised by orchards and farms marked out by hedgerows that blaze with mayflower in the spring; beyond the Severn are the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley.
