The Notley Arms Inn★★★★
"On the edge of Exmoor, village inn with great bar, rooms and food."
Overview
The Notley Arms was re-built around 1870 and is a warm, friendly and inviting village inn. Crackling log fires, comfy sofas and attentive service all contribute to a relaxing atmosphere. Bedrooms are located in the adjacent coach house and all provide impressive levels of quality, comfort and sophistication. The bar comes well stocked with local ales; likewise the menu focuses on sourcing the best the region has to offer, with a range of flavoursome and thoroughly enjoyable dishes. About the area
Somerset remains rural and unspoiled, and ever popular areas to visit are the limestone and red sandstone Mendip Hills rising to over 1,000 feet, and by complete contrast, to the south and southwest, the flat landscape of the Somerset Levels. Another popular spot, the Quantocks, once the haunt of poets Coleridge and Wordsworth, are noted for their gentle slopes, heather-covered moorland expanses and red deer.
