Hill House
Overview
The Hill House is a handsome example of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's work, modern yet part-inspired by Scottish tower houses. It was commissioned by the publisher Walter Blackie, who moved in in 1904. The gardens are being restored to Blackie's design, with features reflecting the suggestions of Mackintosh. There is also a special display about Mackintosh.

About the area
This is a county that’s all about awe-inspiring landscapes and unique island cultures. Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney put the area on the map when he wrote Mull of Kintyre, recorded in 1977 with the local pipe band backing his group.
