Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway
Overview
Embsay is a village to the east of Skipton. Its station dates from 1888, and steam trains run from here to the station at Bolton Abbey. It’s still a one and a half mile walk to the abbey ruins, but a pleasant way to travel through the Dales. Trains run daily in high summer, and most Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays through the year.

About the area
North Yorkshire, with its two National Parks and two designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is England’s largest county and one of the most rural. This is prime walking country, from the heather-clad heights of the North York Moors to the limestone country that is so typical of the Yorkshire Dales – a place of contrasts and discoveries, of history and legend.
