Overview
Danson House is a Palladian villa that was completed in 1766 to designs by Sir Robert Taylor for his client, Sir John Boyd, whose family fortune was founded on the West Indian sugar trade. The house was built for Boyd's young bride, Catherine Chapone, and so the interiors and layout reflect themes of love and enjoyment. The principal floor has a cycle of 17 original wall paintings, and there is a restored George England organ in the library.
