Hawkstone Hall★★★★
"Stunning historic building full of elegance and charm."
Overview
The original manor at Hawkstone Hall dates back to 1556 where the property and land first entered Lord Hill's family ownership. Previously occupied by Catholic missionaries and under the current custodial ownership since 2017 this interesting house has been lovingly and fully restored, maintaining a wealth of original features including the gold leaf vaulted ceilings of the original house, the Chapel and kitchen gardens set across 88 acres. Bedrooms are individually decorated and furnished, most of the impressive suites with roll top baths overlooking the rolling hills. Afternoon teas are available, but make sure you leave room for dinner. Spa treatments available, booking is recommended.

About the area
Perhaps nowhere else in England will you find a county so deeply rural and with so much variety as Shropshire. Choose a clear day, climb to the top of The Wrekin, and look down on that ‘land of lost content’ so wistfully evoked by A E Housman.
