Famed as it is for hops, the Garden of England hosts some fine microbreweries and you can sample a selection of locally produced ales at the Duke’s bar, The focus on ‘local’ applies equally to the ingredients for the kitchen’s menus. A typical three-course choice could be smoked chicken terrine, lardons, curly endive and leek mayonnaise; flllet of cod, lentil dahl, curried shallots and warm banana bread, toffee sauce and clotted cream.
