Conveniently situated close to the A44, this 17th-century country inn is an ideal base for exploring the pretty village of Woodstock and historic Blenheim Palace. Seasonal and organic produce drives the menu here, a typical meal perhaps starting with pigeon, pickled onions, chervil and bread sauce before moving on to hake, Jerusalem artichoke, mash potato, celery and toast hazelnuts. There are eight comfortable bedrooms in an adjacent converted barn.
