Overview
Built in 1823 for a wealthy Liverpool shipping merchant in a perfect spot for exploring the Lake District, Rothay Manor Hotel neatly dovetails its original Regency features with sharp contemporary style. With a patio overlooking gorgeous grounds and mature gardens, the elegant Rowan Restaurant follows suit – contemporary, clean-lined with neutral hues. The cooking is equally refined, relying on first-class materials and classic techniques in dishes of refreshing simplicity. Duck liver parfait with spiced pear purée, duck skin scratchings, duck fat brioche is a punchy starter, followed by roast cod with ‘nduja, gremolata, broad beans and Solway shrimp.
