"Delightful dining in the heart of the Lakes."
Overview
Built in 1823 for a wealthy Liverpool shipping merchant in a perfect spot for exploring the Lake District, Rothay Manor Hotel neatly dovetails its original Regency features with sharp contemporary style. With a patio overlooking gorgeous grounds and mature gardens, the elegant Rowan Restaurant follows suit – contemporary, clean-lined with neutral hues. The cooking is equally refined, relying on first-class materials and classic techniques in dishes of refreshing simplicity. Duck liver parfait with spiced pear purée, duck skin scratchings, duck fat brioche is a punchy starter, followed by roast cod with ‘nduja, gremolata, broad beans and Solway shrimp. Show more

About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills
