L'Enclume
"The epitome of a foodie destination."
Overview
Set in the idyllic medieval village of Cartmel, L’Enclume is a long established place of culinary pilgrimage for foodies. The village is also a gastronomic destination in its own right, as well as being the centre of L’Enclume owner Simon Rogan’s mini restaurant ‘empire’ which also includes a shop. Inside, the uncluttered restaurant occupies an elegant set of rooms with whitewashed walls, slate, natural woods and windows overlooking a well-manicured garden. The table appointments are as bespoke as the food, with a striking collection of serving vessels and forged metal cutlery to mirror the painstakingly sourced artisanal ingredients used in the kitchen.

About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills
