Rogan & Co Restaurant
"Inventive cooking of local farm produce."
Overview
The more casual sibling of Cartmel’s celebrated L’Enclume, Rogan & Co occupies the ground floor of a riverside cottage, close to the village’s stunning medieval priory. The restaurant is modern and uncluttered, with rough stone walls, local art and a low beamed ceiling adding character, and an open pass completing the picture. After an opening salvo of snacks, creative and accessible dishes take in chicken wings filled with chicken and tarragon mousse alongside sweetcorn, girolles and cobra bean sauce, and miso-roasted cod with kohlrabi, creamed potato and shrimp sauce. A final flourish unites chocolate malt tart with Conference pear compôte and foam and intriguing pineapple and sage ice cream.

About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills
