Once a police station, schoolhouse and weaver’s cottage, this characterful hilltop inn on the edge of the Pennines has long been a pub-with-rooms worth a detour for foodies. Spread across three rooms, you can enjoy pub classics and modern British dishes in the elegant brasserie dining room or in the traditional bar with its stone walls and open fire.
