Overview

This historic pub has been family run for many years and successfully combines the feel and comforts of a traditional pub bar with a contemporary restaurant. Very well constructed, balanced dishes are found on menus with an emphasis on provenance and quality. This is one that continues to impress.

Our inspector loves...

Location: - Essendon is a small country village, not too far from Hertford

Menus: - Lunch Menu, a la Carte Menu and Sunday Roast Menu.

Head Chef: - Alex Parker has an enviable pedigree, having worked in some of the best London places

Pub: - Very well stocked bar offering real ales, cocktails and a bar menu.

Hospitality: - Run for over 30 years by the same family.
