Overview
Set in a postcard-pretty village in the picturesque Ribble Valley, The Freemasons at Wiswell ticks all the boxes for a classy contemporary dining inn with its rustic-chic looks – think flagstone floors, open fires, bare wood tables and crisp linen napkins. Food-wise, the kitchen team isn’t trying to push the envelope, nor is the output humdrum – modern British dishes are well conceived, gutsy and brought off with flair, as in tender poached breast of partridge with barley risotto, Moreau sausage, bread sauce and black truffle. Main-course honey-glazed duck breast is paired with a meatball of leg meat, beetroot purée and salsify. Finish with salted white chocolate cremeux with almond sorbet.
