Overview

There’s plenty to love about The Flintlock at Cheddleton: the view over the adjacent Caldon Canal from window tables with views of the locks, plus a large terrace for the warmer months. Inside, a spacious lounge with comfy sofas and armchairs is a relaxed spot for drinks before moving into the dining room, where bare brickwork, stripped floors and plenty of natural light make for a smart Scandi-style setting. An upbeat team deliver unpretentious contemporary food that’s solidly underpinned by classic technique and big on flavour, as in a well-executed dish of pork loin and cheek with celeriac purée, black garlic ketchup and white port sauce.
