The Boat

"Beautifully presented farm-to-plate cooking in Lichfield."
Overview
The Boat’s unassuming location close to the canal gives no hint of its serious gastronomic and sustainable credentials, yet this is a special place, driven by its incredibly passionate chef patron Liam Dillon to transform the previous roadside pub into the established restaurant and foodie destination we see today. There’s a genuine commitment here towards seasonality and sustainability, reflected in its honest approach to modern British cooking, with dishes inspired by the land and local surroundings. It’s an impressive operation with its very own ‘micro farm’ where they keep chickens and pigs, as well vegetables and herbs grown in polytunnels. They also have their own on-site apiary for honey, with 12 hives producing enough honey to be self-sufficient, not to mention help pollination of the vegetables and fruit on site. Show more
