"Impressive and imaginative Indian cooking striving to push flavour boundaries."
Overview
Aktar Islam’s restaurant is on Summer Row and offers modern Indian cuisine with a real ambition to create new Indian taste profiles. The cooking inspiration comes from all over the world, not least from several different Indian regions and ethnicities which are well represented on the impressive 10-course tasting menu (there's a 5-course menu too). ‘Striving to push the boundaries of Indian flavours’, the menu might include tabak maas, a Kashir dish – tandoori BBQ mutton rib; from Delhi, aloo tuk – achaari (pickled) pink fir potato, mango and tamarind; and West Bengalian khatta – steamed turbot, courgette, kohlrabi with green strawberry and gooseberry broth. And for something sweet to finish, perhaps aam from Ratnagiri – Alphonso mango, kheer and white chocolate namelaka.
