The Back Garden
"Tip top kitchen skills and a stunning Cotswold setting."
Overview
The Back Garden is one of the dining options at Dormy House, a 17th-century former farmhouse built of honeyed Cotswold stone, in landscaped grounds perched above Broadway. It’s a gorgeous place to eat, calmingly contemporary and very stylish, with large windows looking out over the walled garden that supplies a lot of the seasonal produce for the kitchen’s assured modern British cooking. A spring dinner starts with beetroot terrine, beautifully balanced with horseradish foam, pickled radish, mustard seeds, apple, and dill purée, followed by a reinvented chicken Kiev, packed with curry butter and teamed with smoked garlic mayonnaise, grilled lime and curry fries.

About the area
Worcestershire is a county of rolling hills, save for the flat Vale of Evesham in the east and the prominent spine of the Malverns in the west. Nearly all of the land is worked in some way; arable farming predominates – oilseed rape, cereals and potatoes – but there are concentrated areas of specific land uses, such as market gardening and plum growing
