The Railway Carriage

Assessed by Visit England Logo
Overview
The Old Station is a refurbished Railway Carriage accommodation, offering everything needed for an independent self-catering holiday in a railway holiday environment. Guests can travel back in time and sit in the original sliding door compartment retained in the carriage, with a toilet and washroom just next door. There is also a relaxing lounge area which has carriage style seating. In warmer weather, there is the option to dine in the peaceful garden (formerly the grounds of The Old Great Eastern Railway) looking out on to the quaint Station Waiting Rooms. Modern touches have been incorporated throughout the carriage while retaining the original character and style of travel in the 1960s. Accommodation and facilities available include an additional Reading Room, 2 modern en-suite bedrooms (sleeps four) – one double and one twin, a cosy twin bedroom, off road parking for one car and a Welcome Tray on arrival. The beach and local amenities are within walking distance and dogs are allowed by arrangement.

About the area
The North Norfolk Coast is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and probably the finest of its kind in Europe. Here you’ll find a string of quaint villages and small towns – Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Cley next the Sea are 21st-century favourites, while Sheringham and Cromer are classic examples of a good old-fashioned seaside resort where grand Victorian hotels look out to sea
