Docwra's Manor Garden

Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
Parts of Docwra's Manor date back to the 15th century, the wrought iron gates were added in the 18th century, but the garden has really only been of note since 1954, when current owner Faith Raven and her late husband moved in. Since then the garden has grown in a number of directions, but still retains the feel of a cottage garden, using a mixture of planning and natural processes. The intention is to grow plants in their natural form, and to encourage birds and insects to feel at home. The garden includes a walled garden, a paved garden, allotments and an orchard, as well as lawns, trees and a small temple.
