Penjerrick Garden
Overview
A beautiful 15-acre sub-tropical woodland garden. Entrance fee is via an honesty box and there are no toilets, tearoom or other visitor facilities, but what you do get in abundance is immense tranquility and the thrilling feeling that you could be walking through the jungle in another continent. Rhododendrons, camellias, magnolias, azaleas, tree ferns and bamboos thrive in the garden, and it’s the home of the renowned Penjerrick and Barclayi hybrid rhododendrons. Created 200 years ago by Robert Were Fox FRS and his three children, this luxuriant valley garden can be reached via a wooden bridge. It has ponds, gunnera and enormous tree ferns and the garden is at its peak in April and May
