Penhallam Manor

Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
Not another Cornish country estate, but a low, grass-covered and complete ground plan of a 13th-century moated manor house surrounded by woods. Built by Andrew de Cardinham, it’s a rare example of a moated manor house in the southwest – they are mainly found in Central and Eastern England. It’s an interesting place to wander around if you’re staying nearby – the full medieval ground plan has survived unaltered after the property was abandoned in the 14th century. Dogs on leads are welcome.
