The Design Museum
Overview
The new Design Museum in Kensington, which opens in autumn 2016, is the world’s leading museum devoted to contemporary design and architecture. The museum’s new home in Holland Park, west London, has been remodelled by John Pawson and offers two temporary galleries and one permanent gallery all under one architecturally spectacular roof. The free permanent gallery tells the story of design and its impact on our lives from the perspective of the designer, the user and the maker, exploring the significance of objects such as the Olympic Torch, Sony Walkman and Vespa scooter.
