Talbot Botanic Gardens
Overview
Malahide Castle has long been associated with ornamental gardening. Over seven hectares of shrubbery, and a Walled Garden of nearly two hectares, are mainly the creation of Lord Milo Talbot de Malahide, whose family had lived at the estate for 800 years until his death in 1973. Lord Milo Talbot had travelled the world and brought home exotic plants from many countries, including Australia and Chile. Visitors follow a path through the gardens, which gives them the best view of this impressive botanic garden.

About the area
It is often visited on a weekend trip, but rushing around is not the best way to experience Dublin. When Ireland joined the European Union, an economic boom began that flourished in the ‘Celtic Tiger’ years of the 1990s – fashion, the arts, food and Irish culture all blossomed, turning Dublin into one of the world’s hottest city destinations.
