Castle Fraser
Overview
The massive Z-plan castle was built between 1575 and 1636 and is one of the grandest of the Castles of Mar. The interior was remodelled in 1838 and decoration and furnishings of that period survive in some of the rooms, which are maintained to retain the feel of a family home. A formal garden inside the old walled garden, estate trails, a children's play area and a programme of concerts are among the attractions.
