Overview
Founded in 1796 Kendal Museum is one of the oldest museums in the UK and is located in an old wool warehouse opposite Kendal train station. Kendal Museum is both a visitor attraction and teaching museum managed by Kendal College. The museum houses a stunning collection of local and global Natural History, Geology, Archaeology and Social History: from Neolithic and Roman relics to expeditions of discovery during the Victorian era. The newly opened ‘People’s Gallery’ showcases a diverse range of art created by local artists from Cumbria and the Lake District and a full and changing programme runs throughout the year, details of which can be found on the website.
