Estbek House★★★★
"Near the coast, great food and run by a friendly, professional team."
Overview
A charming owner-run Georgian property built around 1750 and previously housing the Alum mining office, situated in the small coastal village of Sandsend, just outside of Whitby. The speciality seafood restaurant on the first floor offers a menu based on fresh, local ingredients, and is overseen by chef-patron Tim Lawrence. There is also a small but well-stocked bar with wines for all palates. The four individually appointed bedrooms have been carefully designed and come in a range of sizes.

About the area
North Yorkshire, with its two National Parks and two designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is England’s largest county and one of the most rural. This is prime walking country, from the heather-clad heights of the North York Moors to the limestone country that is so typical of the Yorkshire Dales – a place of contrasts and discoveries, of history and legend.
