Delightfully named High Straggleton Farm Caravan Site is a mile outside Whitby towards Sandsend, and most of the holiday homes have sea views. The nearby beach is sandy, while among Whitby’s attractions are its famous ruined abbey, which inspired Bram Stoker to write Dracula, the house where Captain Cook served his apprenticeship, and the town’s leisure centre.
