"A well preserved 17th-century black and white house where history lessons are given by talking barrels"
Overview
Oak House is a black and white-timbered house built around 1620 by a yeoman farmer whose family later lent money to impoverished gentry who’d fallen on hard times after the Civil War. The house is decorated and furnished with 17th-century items, and talking barrels (!) will tell you about the history of the Turton family. Children’s playground, small museum shop.
