"Fine dining in a handsome 19th-century manor."
Overview
Built in 1816 by the owner of a Jamaican sugar plantation, Rookery Hall Hotel & Spa is set in 38 acres of gardens, parkland and pasture. The wealth of the original owner is evident in the sumptuous interior and the large bay windows in the restaurant offer views of the grounds, which can be enjoyed even more if dining on the terrace. The modern British menu is in step with the seasons and the local larder. Start with Scottish langoustine tart, Jerusalem artichoke, seafood emulsion, lemon, bisque and sea herbs, before a main of Hardwick lamb loin, sticky lamb neck, lamb fat carrot, carrot jam, sheep’s curd and mint jus.
