Overview
Farlam Hall Hotel is a delightful country house with a history dating back to 1428, although the building today is the result of 19th-century alterations. Run by a friendly and enthusiastic team, the hotel is set in beautifully landscaped Victorian gardens complete with an ornamental lake and stream. Gracious public rooms are very relaxing, and much thought has gone into the bedrooms, many of which are simply beautiful. Just a short stroll from the main house are the luxurious Stable Suites, perfect for families, small groups or couples seeking an indulgent and romantic hideaway. Nearby are Hadrian's Wall and the Northern Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, perfect for walking and sightseeing. Dinner in the Cedar Tree is an absolute must, with chef Hrishikesh Desai delivering elegant cuisine with his Indian heritage and use of British produce. New for 2025 is The Sycamore Retreat which features a variety of GAIA Skincare treatments, as well as a range of Gaia products to buy. A cosy consultation room adjacent to the treatment area offers a calming space for guests before and after their treatments.

About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills.
