Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery
Overview
One of the world's best collections of Pre-Raphaelite paintings can be seen here, including important works by Burne-Jones, a native of Birmingham. Also on display are fine silver, ceramics and glass. The archaeology section has prehistoric Egyptian, Greek and Roman antiquities, and also objects from the Near East, Mexico and Peru. The history galleries explore the 800 year history of Birmingham. The Staffordshire Hoard, the largest find of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found is also on display in a purpose built gallery. There is a regular programme of temporary art and history exhibitions every year.
