"The heart and soul of a conservation village"
Overview
Barely 17 miles away as the crow flies, central London seems light years away from this lovely 16th-century coaching inn opposite the village green. Expect well-kept Timothy Taylor and other real ales. Brasserie food includes pan-fried seabass in a tomato salsa sauce served with a potato cake and seasonal veg; or steak and ale pie, chunky chips and gravy. The menu also lists pub classics such as sausage, egg and chips; or beer-battered cod with mushy peas and chunky chips; check the daily specials too. Other attractions are a south-facing terraced garden and four bedrooms, two of which have original oak beams.

Village Road, DENHAM, UB9 5BE
