The Old Mill

"Fabulous gardens and great beer at an environmentally-friendly old mill."
Overview
Handy for the New Forest, Gordleton Mill was a working mill until just after the First World War, and this charming building is now a lovely pub, with absolutely wonderful riverside gardens that include a number of sculptures – take the Art Walk to explore. Everything is made on site, including bread and ice cream, and plenty of produce is grown in the kitchen garden. Dinner might kick off with scallop and Lymington crab thermidor or twice-baked cheese and New Forest mushroom soufflé; with a steak from the grill; or perhaps pan roasted cod loin, mashed potato, rainbow kale and shellfish butter sauce to follow.
Location
Silver Street, Hordle, HAMPSHIRE, SO41 6DJ

About the area
Hampshire’s varied landscape of hills and heaths, downlands and forests, valleys and coast are without rival in southern England. Hike across the chalk downland of the north Hampshire ‘highlands’, meander along peaceful paths through unspoilt river valleys of the Test, Itchen, Avon and Meon, or explore the lonely salt marshes and the beautiful medieval forest and heathland of the New Forest.
