"Top-notch cooking in locals’ favourite."
Overview
For the best part of four decades, Melton’s Restaurant has remained one of York’s notable restaurants. Opened by chef Michael Hjort and wife Lucy in 1990, this welcoming bistro-style venue is close to a local shopping area on the outskirts of the cathedral city. The hand-painted wall friezes, depicting local landmarks, contrast beautifully with the lilac and rich purple decor of this intimate, eight-table restaurant. Friendly and informal staff have a low-key style, but they are knowledgeable and passionate about the dishes. Show more
