JÖRO Oughtibridge Mill
"An edgy modern rustic feel."
Overview
JÖRO (from 'Jörð' meaning 'earth' in Old Norse) has relocated to a stylishly converted former paper mill on the outskirts of Sheffield that is tailor-made for industrial urban edginess and the kitchen’s style of Nordic and Asian-influenced cooking. It’s a stripped back, open-plan space with sheepskins on the seating, salt-ageing cabinets on the way in, and tables all facing the open kitchen, where produce from local farms and foragers provides seasonal ingredients for 21st-century tasting menus. Hogget is slow cooked on the bone, finished on the grill and served up with vibrant caponata, Ramiro pepper tamari and wild garlic sauce, while an innovative dessert unites brown butter parfait with poached nashi pears and koji mousse.

About the area
Traditionally a steel and coal producing centre, the decline of both industries in South Yorkshire has been replaced to some extent by tourism based around the area’s beautiful Pennine countryside. The county claims part of the Peak District National Park, whose hills and dales provide welcome space for the large urban populations
