The Guildhall Museum
Overview
Experience the unique atmosphere of the oldest town centre building in the city. The Guildhall was originally a row of shops and workshops attached to a wealthy merchant's town house. It has been owned by the City of Carlisle since the 14th century and is now home to a museum of civic history, such as Carlisle Bells, the oldest horseracing prizes in the country and the impressive medieval monument chest, Victorian civic regalia, and Guild Silver collections.

About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills.
