Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museum
Overview
This unusual museum specialises in the history and development of Northumbrian small pipes and their music. They are set in the context of bagpipes from around the world, from India to Inverness. It is also host to the Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering, with music and crafts the weekend after Easter and a traditional music festival through the month of October. About the area
If it’s history you’re after, there’s heaps of it in Northumberland. On Hadrian’s Wall you can imagine scarlet-cloaked Roman legionaries keeping watch for painted Pictish warriors while cursing the English weather and dreaming of home.
