Kellie Castle & Gardens
Overview
The oldest part dates from about 1360, but it is for its 16th and 17th-century domestic architecture (designed by Sir Robert Lorimer) that Kellie is renowned. It has notable plasterwork and painted panelling, an exhibition on sculptor Hew Lorimer in the stable where his studio was located, and also a Victorian walled garden.

About the area
This 20-mile wide peninsula between the Firth of Forth and the Firth of Tay is an ancient kingdom, once the home of Scotland’s kings and saints. Despite its modern bridges it still seems curiously detached from the rest of the country.
