A loop from Long Hill to Ettington

Walk directions

From the lay-by at Long Hill, walk down the lane towards Loxley. In about 0.5 miles (800m), go right up the lane, past Hillside View and towards Ettingley Farm. Continue ahead to the right of Ettingley Farm, now a track. Through a field gate continue ahead across a field to a gate in the hedge. Descend across the next field, and at a path junction go ahead through a gate to join the path to the right of the hedge, passing to the right of Whitfield Farm. Through a kissing gate, join the farm drive and follow it down to the A429.

Go right along the right-hand grass verge of the A429 towards Ettington, then in about 600yds (549m) cross the busy road with care and go left through a gate in the hedge. Turn right and follow the path to the left of the hedge to reach on to the old Warwick Road. Follow this traffic-free, disused road up to the A422 in the village, which brings you to a crossroads opposite the Church of Holy Trinity and St Thomas of Canterbury.

About the area
The sparkle of sunlight on a gentle river as it meanders through beautiful countryside; the reflections of sailing boats on a lake; relaxing with a pint in the garden of an old English pub in a picturesque village; brightly coloured narrow boats making their way through a flight of lock gates; the imposing silhouette of an historic castle. These are the scenes that make Warwickshire a delight.
