Overview
Tanfield Railway is an outstanding heritage railway which dates back to long before the introduction of passenger trains. It was built initially to transport coal, and is now home to a number of beautifully maintained steam engines. Visitors can enjoy a six mile round trip through beautiful rolling countryside and a spectacular wooded valley.
