Overview
Part of the Godinton Estate, these 12-acre tranquil gardens are surrounded by ancient parkland that includes stately oaks and chestnut trees. Hundreds of years of changing garden design ideas have contributed to today’s layout which is mainly that of Reginald Blomfield. The terraced lawns are bordered by a vast yew hedge and topiary box and the long, curvy-edged herbaceous borders and ornamental trees and shrubs create a delightful environment. Areas to be visited are the Italian garden, walled garden, rose garden, lily pond and wild garden. A tea room opens from early April to early October.
