Overview
The Thursford Collection is famous for being the world’s largest collection of steam engines and mechanical organs. You can see Wurlitzer shows, silent movies, old-fashioned fairground carousels and static displays of both fairground and road engines, along with all kinds of related memorabilia. There are two behind-the-scenes tours: the first goes backstage, taking in dressing rooms, costume stores, and the wardrobe department; while the second visits the old forge and a re-creation of an engine yard of the 1940s. During November and December, people flock from miles around to the huge Christmas Spectacular shows and to take the children on Santa’s Magical Journey. There's free entry to the shops between April and December and the Barn restaurant offers a full range of hot food and snacks.

About the area
The North Norfolk Coast is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and probably the finest of its kind in Europe. Here you’ll find a string of quaint villages and small towns – Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Cley next the Sea are 21st-century favourites, while Sheringham and Cromer are classic examples of a good old-fashioned seaside resort where grand Victorian hotels look out to sea.
