Walk directions

From the car park, go left along Pear Tree Avenue to reach the A51 road. Go right along the pavement of the A51, then cross the road passing in front of the White Swan pub. About 35yds (32m) beyond the pub, cross over the road and go left along the well-walked footpath by the side of the churchyard. Follow the Heart of England waymarkers past the church building and descend the steps to reach a footbridge over the River Tame. Cross the bridge and walk ahead along the gravel track to enter Kingsbury Water Park. With Hemlingford Water close by on your left, cross the footbridge and walk by the side of Bodymoor Heath Water, leaving the Heart of England behind as you proceed ahead. Eventually bear left by the miniature railway and keep straight ahead past a children’s play area to reach the visitor centre.

From the visitor centre, follow the signs to the watersports clubs along lanes and footpaths. Shortly the path returns to the side of Bodymoor Heath Water, then leaves it to pass by the entrance gate to Tamworth Sailing Club. Continue to the right-hand side of Bodymoor Heath Water, along a tarmac lane, then back to the water’s edge path.

The sparkle of sunlight on a gentle river as it meanders through beautiful countryside; the reflections of sailing boats on a lake; relaxing with a pint in the garden of an old English pub in a picturesque village; brightly coloured narrow boats making their way through a flight of lock gates; the imposing silhouette of an historic castle.
