Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms occupies a rather surprising location close to Nottingham’s old industrial area, well away from the city centre bustle. One the sat-nav has delivered you there, the property is housed in a tastefully converted Victorian farmhouse and outbuildings down a quiet and narrow lane with the River Trent flowing behind. An established star of the country’s culinary firmament, Bains has gained a reputation for taking his creative dishes to a different level through forensic research and development. The provenance of the raw materials is impeccable – around 40 per cent of the vegetables are grown in the urban garden right outside the kitchen.
