Around Small Hythe and a vineyard

Walk directions

From the vineyard car park, walk left towards the telephone box, cross a stile on the right to join the High Weald Landscape Trail and walk between two gardens to cross a stile. Follow the hedgerow to the bottom of the field. Bear diagonally right across the next field, cross a bridge and walk across the bottom of the field keeping the trees on your right. Maintain direction crossing a stile and a footbridge to reach a yellow waymarker post, with an oast house away to your left.

The track now runs along the side of a hedge, through a metal gate and across the field to a stile and plank bridge. Continue in the same direction and then walk up the left-hand side of a field. Go over another stile and cross the field to a track and a stile and footbridge.

For an optional out-and-back extension to this walk, which takes you through a glorious wooded valley, cross the footbridge and keep ahead to climb the steps cut into the bank and walk beside a large pond. Now follow the footpath ahead through the valley, the route taking you over a stile and a small bridge and ahead over another bridge, then across fields parallel with the stream, eventually reaching a gate leading into woodland. Continue through the gate, take the steps over a bridge and up the side of a hill. Keep ahead at a junction of tracks at a bridge on the left and continue ahead to reach two further bridges. Return to the main walk by retracing your route through the valley and back to the footbridge at the start of the detour. Follow main walk directions from this point.
