Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
This interesting museum demonstrates the mechanics of a Victorian flourmill with its working waterwheel and steam chimney. The collection includes one of only three unused millstones left in the country. There’s also a gift and craft shop, and a riverside tea room that offers free tastings of their award-winning organic ice cream in summer.
Location
Mill Lane, LOWER SLAUGHTER, GL54 2HX
About the area
Gloucestershire is home to a variety of landscapes, including the Cotswolds, a region of gentle hills, valleys and gem-like villages that roll through the county. To their west is the Severn Plain, watered by Britain’s longest river and characterised by orchards and farms marked out by hedgerows that blaze with mayflower in the spring; beyond the Severn are the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley.
