Norwich Playhouse is by the river in the heart of the city, and opened in 1995 in what had previously been a Georgian maltings. It had also been a newspaper office, a builder’s merchants, a pub, a motor-cycle dealer’s warehouse and a Greek restaurant. The Playhouse is unusual as theatres go, as it has an award-winning garden which visitors are welcome to relax in. It also has two art galleries and a bar. The stage offers a mix of comedy, children’s shows, musicals, cabaret, and concerts.
